Lá Glas agus Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona Daoibh!

We would like to wish all our children, families, teachers and team a very Happy St Patrick’s Day.

Yesterday was a day full of green – celebrating our Lá glas and the end of our Seachtain na Gaeilge. We had a storyteller telling us stories both in English and as Gaeilge. We heard about many Irish myths from Fionn, Bran, Oisin and all the way to Tír na nÓg. The weather was beautiful, so we managed to have a concert outside. Each class shared a piece they had learnt for Lá Glas!

It’s A Win!

Congratulations to the girls hockey team who won their match against Mount Anville Primary School 1:0! It was a hard fought victory against a very strong team. Thanks to Mount Anville Primary School for the challenge.

Our World Book Day Visitor!

We had the pleasure of hosting Alma Jordan, author of One Stormy Night and Blue The Brave last week. She came to visit us as part of our World Book Day events and read an extract from her newly released books. She also spoke to us about safety on the farm. It was very engaging and enjoyable. Thank you Alma!

3rd Class Become Egyptian Pharaohs!

Third class has been learning about the geography and history of Egypt. In art, the class used the medium of photography and acrylic paint to turn themselves into pharaohs. They utilised their excellent research skills to learn about Egyptian art and hieroglyphics so that they could write their names too.

Lovely work 3rd Class!

Active School Flag!

We have been awarded the Active School Flag once again!

This is a huge undertaking and it is an acknowledgment of the great work being done by both students and teachers in JSNS.

A huge thank you and congratulations to all involved from the students participating fully, to all those who helped put the application together, to the active flag committee and in particular to Mr Gibney for leading the charge

You can read all about the initiative here!

Spring Has Sprung In 2nd Class!

2nd class have unleashed their creativity and created beautiful Spring blossom trees. They practiced mixing colours together first to create depth to their trees, then used cotton buds to create the leaves. They carefully chose a background colour using water paints to compliment their picture. 🌼🌼🌼🌼

Lovely work 2nd Class!

Sixth Class at MOLI!

Before the mid term break, 6th class spent the day at the Museum of Literature Ireland, a museum for the worlds greatest storytellers.
They did a fun workshop inspired by James Joyce and then took a tour around the museum and even viewed the first copy of Ulysses!
“I love flowers, I’d love to have the whole place swimming in roses.”🌹

Tongue Twisters In Speech Week!

The Junior Assembly had a fantastic speech week last week. The classes did vocal warm ups, learning simple tongue twisters and Shakespearean poems.

Junior Infants performed a poem entitled African Animals, Senior Infants, The Continents song; 1st Class Red performed Winter by William Shakespeare and 1st Class Yellow, Aim high for the sky by James McDonald.

The children spoke beautifully and confidently! Well done everyone!

Drop Everything! And Pause.

Last week as 4th class gave 5th class a tour of the National Gallery they all dropped everything to pause. The atrium, a bright open space, provided a perfect still and calm place to incorporate their daily practice of mindfulness.

Battling It Out On The Hockey Pitch!

The girls hockey team has been busy battling it out on the pitch, with a defeat from Rathfarnham parish last week but hopeful for their match against Sancta Maria College.

Best of luck team!
