Activities as Gaeilge!

It was all about Seachtain na Gaeilge last week with loads of lovely Irish activities going on in the school, where the classes showcased their Irish for the other classes. Here’s 6th class reading an Irish story to 1st class. An mhaith!

Weight with 2nd Class!

2nd class were learning all about weight last week in maths. 

They really enjoyed exploring materials, weighing different classroom objects and investigating what was more than or less than 1kg. 

They loved celebrating World Book Day too with lots of reading, colouring and a fun table quiz.

PE with Mr G! Dodgeball!

For the month of March in PE, classes will be participating in Dodgeball. Dodgeball is a firm favourite with the children of JSNS! The children will practice skills such as dodging, catching, throwing, blocking, and coordination. 

They will also aim to improve their teamwork and communication with many laughs thrown in for good measure!

 

Greens Schools Poster Competition!

The children were asked to illustrate a picture showing the importance of groundwater as part of the Green Schools Poster competition.

The JSNS Green Schools Committee received lots of beautiful posters.

Junior Infants – Valentine’s Day inspired number lines

Junior Infants have been busy ordering numbers this week! They made Valentine’s Day inspired number lines from 1-10!

2nd Class-Chinese New Year

Last week 2nd Class researched ‘The Chinese New Year’. They created beautiful posters and made Chinese lanterns in Art class. Lovely work 2nd Class!

3rd Class Pop Art!

3rd class decided to bring a pop of colour to school last week by creating Pop Art pieces of their own. The children learned about the art of Andy Warhol and how he created repeated images with loads of colour. The children traced photographs of themselves onto laminating sheets and stuck collages of paper inside afterward. They created amazing colourful pieces! Well done 3rd class!
