Trish Bunyan has been running the Afterschool programme in Northumberland road for 6 years, and has been a member of the John Scottus community since 2001 when her children attended the school. Trish has designed an afterschool environment of play, creativity and exploration with a strong sense of community and belonging. For the past 8 years she has run a very popular multi-activity summer camp at the school and is an integral part of the musical production team. Trish is dedicated to creating a caring, safe and nurturing environment for every child in afterschool and works hard to make sure afterschool is a happy place in which the JSNS children can flourish.
Vanessa is a most loved member of our afterschool team. She can mostly be found surrounded by little kids asking for drawing creations. She has been teaching art in the school since 2012. Vanessa has an MA in visual arts practice and is an illustrator and artist. She has been a member of the John Scottus community since 2006 when her daughter joined JSNS.
Frankie has been a full time Physical Education teacher at John Scottus National School since Sept 2008, teaching all classes throughout the week and has been helping out with Afterschool during that time too. Frankie can be found supervising the yard outside during Afterschool, ensuring the children are playing in a fun, safe and inclusive environment. Taking the children’s lead, he encourages free and unstructured play but happily organises group games should the kids become stuck for ideas and is often found joining in too.
Lydia began helping out at afterschool as a part time job when she was a 3rd year pupil in John Scottus secondary school and has been with us ever since. She is currently studying History and Classics at UCD and is in her final year. Lydia is a keen hockey player and teaches at Pembroke Hockey club.
