Christmas Carols On The Steps!

That’s a wrap!

We’re going to leave you with this gloriously festive post.

4th 5th & 6th Class raised money for charity singing Christmas carols on Dawson Street and were joined by 2nd & 3rd Class for more carols on the school steps when they returned. It certainly got us into the festive spirit!

We hope you have a long and restful break and we look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday the 8th of January.

Check Out Our New Jerseys!

Check out our new jerseys!

The charity sponsorship on the front is Neurodiversity Ireland, a wonderful charity promoting Neurodiversity and inclusion of neurodivergent kids and young people in Ireland.

So many thanks to one of the parents who donated these to the school.

Thank you 5th class for modelling the jerseys. Super stylish!

It’s Beginning To Look A lot Like Christmas In Senior Infants!

Senior infants are getting ready for Christmas! The class has been in a winter wonderland in Aistear, training huskies, designing snow globes, making playdough gingerbread men and writing very important lists!

Let it snow Senior Infants, let it snow!

3rd Class Get Innovative!

Third Class have been working really hard on their STEP UP projects. The class worked in groups to come up with ideas and prototypes to improve the community. They presented their innovative ideas in assembly, to other classes on the Science Showcase day and to an Engineer that visited the class.

Well done third class for working so collaboratively and for putting together fantastic presentations!

Christmas Jumper Swap!

Reminder that our Christmas Jumper Swap will take place on Thursday 7th December. If you have some Christmas jumpers that you would like to swap, please bring them to school before Thursday!

*For JSNS families only, this is not a public event*

JI Skittles Experiment!

Junior Infants loved doing some science experiments with skittles 🍬.

The children predicted and recorded results. They learned to work as scientists and utilised the scientific method!

There were a lot of amazed (and hungry) faces when the rainbow appeared!

Science Week!

We had a very busy week during science week! We had talks, experiments and many discussions.

A huge thank you to Betul, who spent a wonderful morning in the school meeting all the different classes and talking to everyone about all things cell related. Some of the children really gave her a run for her money with some excellent questions and observations. Definitely some scientists in the making.

Thank you to the Science team for planning and arranging such a great week!

4th Class Kick Start The MSReadathon Challenge!

Our bookworms in 4th Class Red kick-started the Readathon challenge with the dream big books last week. They figured out what character traits these famous characters had in common.

Happy reading 4th Class!

5th & 6th Class Go Head To Head With St Christophers!

5th/6th boys played a friendly Gaelic football match against our neighbours, St Christopher’s. It was a great game from start to finish. We started strong and were in the lead going into half time. However, the opposition came out fast and strong in the second half and got the job done. Final score St Christopher’s 2:9 JS 0:7.

Well done to the boys and thanks to St. Christopher’s team for the challenge!

Trees of Life!

3rd Class produced beautiful Trees of Life as part of Gratitude and Wellbeing Week. Each part of three represents different parts of themselves.

Roots: important people, items and favourite places

Trunk: skills and characteristics

Rain drops: challenges

Branches: hopes and dreams

Fruit: lessons learned

What a lovely exercise!

Thank you 3rd Class.
