2nd Class-Chinese New Year

Last week 2nd Class researched ‘The Chinese New Year’. They created beautiful posters and made Chinese lanterns in Art class. Lovely work 2nd Class!

3rd Class Pop Art!

3rd class decided to bring a pop of colour to school last week by creating Pop Art pieces of their own. The children learned about the art of Andy Warhol and how he created repeated images with loads of colour. The children traced photographs of themselves onto laminating sheets and stuck collages of paper inside afterward. They created amazing colourful pieces! Well done 3rd class!

4th Class Young Writer Competition!

Fourth Class students Ruairi, Aisling, Rudrakshi and Dorjee were awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place for their Young Writer Competition entries this week at the Rotary Club, Dun Laoghaire. Congratulations 4th Class, what a fantastic achievement!

Sixth Class Friends for Life Programme

Sixth class have been participating in the Friends for Life Programme.
Friends for Life is a school based anxiety prevention and resilience building programme that teaches children effective coping strategies, problem solving skills and how to manage all kinds of emotional distress including worry, stress, change and anxiety.

2nd Class Mindfulness and Guided Meditation!

Second class enjoyed a few moments of zen last week during a guided meditation session. Mindfulness is one of our core values at JSNS and helps us to live our motto: Laetus Impraesens-delight in the present.

4th Class Pointillism!

Last week, 4th Class used a technique called pointillism by using cotton buds to create distinct dots of colour. They chose colours that would compliment each other and used water colours to create their background. Beautiful work 4th Class!

Second class – Firework Art!

Second class celebrated the beginning of 2022 with some explosive artwork inspired by images of New Year’s celebrations!!
We love how they have turned out.

Junior Infants – Numbers and Letters!

Junior Infants were having lots of fun last week playing maths board games and using their knowledge of numbers to play Animal Hunt! How fun!

3rd Class is for the birds!

The cold weather is coming in fast so third class got to action last week – for the sake of the BIRDS! They created biodegradable stacked fruit, vegetable and seed bird feeders! They were placed all around our Secret Garden where they can be enjoyed by our feathered friends.

Our student, Reyansh participated in an online art competition organised by South Dublin County Council Social Inclusion Group and came in second place! Well done Reyansh!
