Our bookworms in 3rd Class are setting the scene for this year’s Multiple Sclerosis Ireland Readathon at the national print museum.

4th Class Have A Fun Fleeting Day!
Last Wednesday, 4th Class walked to the National Museum of Ireland and enjoyed a Viking tour. The class saw a real skeleton, learned about the Vikings’ lives and looked at the artefacts they left behind. It was interesting and engaging! A pit stop was made at Merrion Square Park Playground for some lunch and play, followed by a visit to the National Gallery of Ireland to take a sketching tour. The class learned about the elements of art and experimented with line, shading, tone and even the balance of movement in art. The class finished the day with some emergency ice creams to make sure they had enough energy to make it back to school.
All in all – a great day out with a great group of children!
Junior Sports Day!

It’s All Abuzz In 2nd Class!
To celebrate World Bee Day, 2nd Class had a buzzing time at the bee workshop at the Slovenian Embassy last Monday. They tasted some delicious honey from Slovenia, saw a virtual 3D video of bee keepers at work and also tried on some beekeeper suits.
They finished off with a lovely picnic in Merrion Square!
Thanks to the Slovenian embassy for hosting our buzzing 2nd Class!
Bike Week 2023!
Well done to all students, parents and staff who participated in National Bike week last week. Each class has been keeping a tally of cyclists and results will be shared later this week. The bike parking area never looked so full! It’s great to see everyone engaging in active transport!
Magnets in 1st Class!
1st Class have been learning about magnets!
They started by making predictions about which materials magnets would be attracted to and then conducted their own experiments to confirm or deny their predictions.
How catching 1st class!
Junior Infants – Call the Gardaí!
Junior and Senior Infants had a recent visit from the Gardaí. They shared useful information about what children can do if they are in trouble and that their role in the community is to keep everyone safe. They also reminded the children of important safety rules.
Finally, they showed us their squad car and their siren! It was a very impressive presentation and they all really enjoyed learning more about their important role in our community.
Go raibh maith agat an Garda Síochána!
JSNS Culture Day 2023!
We celebrate over 30 nationalities in our school!
Last week children, parents, teachers and team came together to celebrate our 2023 Culture Day. We shared food, dance, songs and storytelling. It allowed us to get a glimpse of how lucky our children are going to school with such a diverse mix of friends. It was a wonderful warm and welcoming atmosphere. As one parent put it, ‘we are more International than an International school…’
Thank you to all the Culture Day team, the volunteers, from MC’s, to photographers, to everyone on the tables, to people on the door, all the performers, the cooks and the bakers – thank you all for putting it all together and for such an enjoyable day.
