Christmas Shoe box Appeal!

John Scottus National School students have a very long standing tradition of creating Christmas Shoe boxes to be sent to children around the world. This year we joined with the Irish charity Heart to Hand to offer a Christmas box to boys and girls in Albania.

Happy World Teachers Day 2021!

Annual School Picnic!

Last Friday we celebrated the school’s birthday with a wonderful picnic!
All the classes enjoyed their lunch al fresco and junior infants even invited some fuzzy friends to their picnic!
There were lots of activities and running around.
Thank you to Mr. Gibney and particularly the wonderful 6th class for running the show all day.

4th class pastel drawings!

4th Class used the outdoors to inspire their wonderful pastel drawings last week.
They searched around the school grounds to find a flower that inspired them by its colour, texture and shape.
They took a snapshot on an iPad and in class, used pastels to draw the flower focusing on the colour to create depth to their picture. Lovely work 4th class!

35 years old today!

Can you believe that our lovely school was born thirty five years ago today?! Read on for some JSNS trivia!

John Scottus was established by a number of parents who were inspired by eastern and western philosophy. They saw spirituality as the true essence of every human being and the school welcomes those of all faiths and those of none.

Our school is named after John Scottus Eriugena, the Platonist philosopher, theologian and poet of Ireland’s Golden Age.

Since the doors opened there has been a strong emphasis placed on the regular practice of meditation and mindfulness which strengthens focus, enhances awareness and connects the student to a sense of quiet presence whether in stillness or in activity.

Our motto, Laetus Impraesens,’Delight in the Present’, expresses the importance we attribute to being fully present and connected in every moment. We practice this daily through pausing and mindfulness.

1st Class did some marvellous Autumnal chalk pastel leaves inspired by their daily walks. Lovely work 1st class!
