Mindfulness
We place a strong emphasis on the regular practice of meditation and mindfulness which strengthens focus, enhances awareness and connects the child to a sense of quiet presence whether in stillness or in activity. ‘The pause’ is practised at the end of each activity.
Daily Assembly
School commences with an ethos-based assembly each morning and focuses on a different theme each week, such as gratitude, well-being and kindness. Students are encouraged to participate in assembly and address the school community, developing their confidence in public speaking.
Longer Day
School opens at 8am with a 2pm finish for Junior Infants and a staggered finish from 3pm for all other classes.
Hot Lunches
We provide a home-cooked, nutritious, hot vegetarian lunch. The children enjoy their lunch with their teachers. Nutritious snacks are also provided at break times and during Afterschool.
Small Class Sizes
We aim to keep class sizes below the Irish national average (<23) to enhance a positive learning experience and teacher/child relationship.
Teacher/Child Relationship
We aim to keep teachers with their classes for 2-3 years to foster a positive teacher/child relationship.
Philosophy
We teach the principles of philosophy through weekly lessons that enable the pupils to explore different values and virtues. They play games, listen to stories, and learn to develop their critical thinking and logic.
Physical Education
We value physical education as an opportunity for each child to move well and move often. Pupils participate in three Physical Education lessons each week, incorporating athletics, swimming lessons from Junior Infants, dance, games, gymnastics, karate and outdoor adventure activities.
Swimming For Half The School Year
All children from Junior Infants to fourth class participate in swimming classes as part of the primary school PE curriculum for half of the school year.
Performances
Each class prepares two annual performances in December and June for parents and families to come and enjoy.
Pre-Loved Uniforms
We offer a sustainable, eco-friendly and cost effective uniform alternative. Pre-loved uniforms are available throughout the school year and we have regular sales scheduled at key times during the school year.
Open Communication
Open communication between parents and teachers is encouraged to support each child. Parents may contact the teacher at any time by email or can arrange a meeting via the school office.
