Afterschool at John Scottus
The on-site afterschool service is a unique feature of John Scottus National School and is a benefit to parents who require supervision for their children in the afternoon. It runs five days a week from 2pm, for Junior Infants and at the end of the school day for all other classes, until 5.15 pm.
A dedicated team led by Director Trish Bunyan provides a warm, relaxed environment for children to have fun with classmates and friends from other classes. Younger and older children play together, adding to the sense of community that already exists in John Scottus National School. Healthy snacks are provided.
Children engage in a range of stimulating activities of their choosing, including unstructured play, sports and art. A supervised quiet space is provided for children who wish to do their homework. Some families also choose to enrol their children in a variety of sessions which take place on the premises during Afterschool. Examples of activities include dance, art, drama, computer programming, karate, guitar, ukulele, piano, violin, football, GAA, lego, French and Italian.
