Active School Flag (ASF) is a Department of Education and Skills initiative supported by Healthy Ireland, and part of the National Physical Activity Plan. At John Scottus National School, we value physical education as more than just exercise and training. We see it as an opportunity for each child to move well and move often through structured activities that encompass our Whole School PE Plan and ethos, and also through unstructured play time in the yard. 

JSNS was awarded the active flag initially in 2016. The ASF is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community. 

Our most recent Active School Flag was awarded in 2023 and is led by our dedicated Physical Education teacher, Mr Gibney and the Active Flag Committee.
